Our Vision & Mission

Two thousand years of living in the Diaspora (Galut), spread across the four corners of the world, gave rise to different nuances in the form of prayer (Tefilla) and variations in custom and law between different Jewish communities.

In Hashem's abundant kindness, our generation has merited seeing the scattered remnants of our nation returning to our Holy Land, the land of Zion and Jerusalem.

We see this as a wonderful opportunity and responsibility to establish our Kehilla, "Klal Yisrael." With Hashem's help we will endeavour to fuse the physical ingathering of our people with a spiritual and practical unity — whilst respecting and treasuring all ethnic differences and variations. We all have our colourful stories, backgrounds and traditions, which we want to honour, bringing everyone together in a shared spirit of joy and simcha.

Foundation Stones of the Kehilla

    Respect for the Torah

    Bringing honour to Hashem — we hope, with Hashem's help, to progress in Torah learning, in Tefilla (prayer), and in the performance of mitzvot.

    Respect for all of Hashem's creation

    Love for every person fashioned in the image of the Creator, and a special love for Yisrael, who are called His children. Everyone is a chaver, a member of the Kehilla, and all guests are warmly welcomed.

    Respect for the customs of Yisrael

    Different formulas of prayer and songs from varied ethnic backgrounds will be welcomed, under the supervision of rules set by the shul management.

    Equality

    No one will have lasting tenure over any role or benefit. The community will run on the basis of equal rights for men and women, within the guidelines and spirit of the Halacha. Matters will be decided by an elected committee that ensures adherence to those Halachic principles.

    Togetherness

    The Kehilla will live in a spirit of Ahavat Chinam (causeless love) and will act charitably to help those in need. It will be open to all variations within wider Israeli society, within the confines of the Halacha.

    Kehilla activities

    Arranged to foster a feeling of togetherness, inclusivity, and a joyous love of an authentic Jewish outlook and practice.
